Dam he plowed straight into them. Was he scared to get his truck dirty?

Wow, crazy weekend, that course is fucking ridiculous. Screw that shit, i mean water puddle under the second bridge, i got to smell like crap the whole race. We ended up busting the steering rack at RM100, took forever to get up the summit and down the back side to get them. got back to the highway at 5 am this morning. Check 2 closed when we fixed the box, so there was no point in going another hundred miles for nothing in the most desolate part of the course when we couldn't reach weather man, had no gas, no gps, no water, irc call box didnt work. Fun stuff though. We are gonna hopefully be the season champs, we'll see.

After I got out of the truck and was heading down highway 3 where our next pit was, i saw Jerry across the road from us with his hood off and looked to be doing some work. Not sure what happened with him after that.

HOLY CRAP, we hauled ass right by that spot, saw the Pistola truck on the side. Just thought they broke, but damn that sucks for the local under the truck.

At 11 this morning, 700 Chamlee was at RM 620 something, and 701 B Walsh was at 420 something. Gotta hand it to him, when Walsh was coming into start the San Felipe loop down the borrego pit section, he was HUALING the mail

I read they missed the San Felipe loop, and had to travel 100 miles to get back on course, and everybody stayed on just for them. thats pretty bad ass,
Supposedly the movie Dust To Glory Inspired them to do the race,

Lol rad picture Travis. Yeah TTT (tequila trophy truck) following the canuck SxS in hours after S/F closed was the reason I spilled beer and woke up to teddy grams (no relation to BBR) crumbs in my bed. Heck made a comment about food in the RDC Baja thread and I though great idea. Well I fell asleep in bed with my laptop beside me beer in hand a the box of teddy grams trying to wait for those two to cross the finish line. Man couch racing is tough shit. I totally dnfed lol oh well better luck at the 500.

Hell of a race. We raced the GT 7S in Class 2 because it had a brand new 3.4 and we werent running for points in 7S etc. Truck barrell rolled at 5 MPH coming into Ojos but didnt do any damage, landed right back on its wheels. Got stuck in the silt coming into Borrego. I codawged the whole San Felipe loop from 11 at night until 11:30 the next day. Beat me to shit but I had an amazing driver with 25 years of Baja experience, never got stuck and passed so many cars that were. Had some issues but we dealt with them and it didnt slow us down one bit. Straight hauling ass in the most fucked up loop San Felipe has ever thrown at us and my back is feeling it a little. Truck had an internal computer issue after the meadow coming outta Mikes and after 2 hours doing anything we could it just wouldnt get spark. We called it about 4:00 on Saturday afternoon and I strap towed it from the Meadow to Ojos. Stopped and got some beer and tacos in Ensenada plus a trip to the farmacia for some pain killers LOL. I was possibly gonna drive from Ojos to the finish but the truck didnt get there. Will post more details later but what a race!

are you talking about two lost guys on a Polaris?

there was I, at RM500, watching some TTs and 1's passing by.... when there was this small "truck" with small lights and small everything, going down the hill at a really slow speed. They saw the fire we had going on, stopped by and asked "how do I get to HW 3?" I was like "fuck, this is a freaking fast polaris, considering it's like midnight-ish and all i've seen are TT's".
"dude, where do you wanna go?"
"to San Felipe".. and then he the codriver yelled (i quote) "WE'RE FUCKING LOST!!!"
then i realized what was happening; they missed the whole san felipe loop.
"ok, turn right where you find a bunch of trucks, you'll get to town, then hop on the road, take a right, go straight ahead to SF, good luck!!"

Heres a decent account of our race. Probably be kinda long but whatever. Didnt get to Ensenada til about 5 on Thursday night. I drove the truck through tech solo and probably got more high fives etc than I ever have driving through tech, pretty cool. Drove it from there to Papaguayos and had our pit meeting, unknown to me I was gonna drive the last booby trap laden 30 to the finish and codawg all of the San Flippy loop. Crashed shortly knowing it was gonna be a long two days without sleep. Race day we left Ensenada just as we got word of the semi holding up the TTs and just waited with the race truck. When they started back up we jammed to Ojos. Truck rolled about 5 miles from us at 5 MPH. No damage and no fluids lost, full barrel roll. Truck went up over the Summit no problem but got stuck in the silt coming into Borrego for about an hour. Tried to sleep in my truck and a lawn chair but we had some people across the course in full party mode blasting LMFAO, so I was fine with it. Truck came in about 11 at night, dumped gas and belted in knowing I was in for a long night. The previous driver told us they had lost third gear and I realized a microswitch had fallen off the gate shifter hence no third gear. About 2 miles in we realized the torsion bars were shit so we stopped off the highway and adjusted them, much better. Made it to Diablo and I reached over and pressed the tiny button for third. Boom, third gear. Hurt like a bitch so I knew that having a numb hand would help, off came the glove. My driver had 25 years of Baja experience, lots of wins and championships and the loop was the most fucked up he had ever seen it. Straight brutal, my back is still hurting a little right now. We made it through Matomi with no problems, pitted after Check 3 and watched the sun rise over the Sea of Cortez as I drank a water and took a few Advil down. Made it through Huatamote with no issue, huge thanks to Pat Dailey for the prerun session, we never got stuck even through the gnarliest and softest section Ive ever done. Stopped after a silt hill and let the truck cool down and took a piss. On we went through Chanate, by now we had the shifting into and out of third down so good that we didnt even need to talk to do it, just automatic. Got back into San Flippy by the arches and the driver hopped out, more water and more Advil for Zoo Road back to Borrego. Zoo Road was dead as expected but we had some good lines and made awesome time. Got out of the truck around 11 in the morning, 12 hours straight in the truck only getting out twice to piss and once to let the motor cool down. Went to Valley T and shadowed the truck to Mikes along the highway then went to the Meadow. Dumped gas and the truck was running awesome, 5 miles later the truck died. No popping or anything. Went down on course and played with all the electronics for 2 hours til we called it. Strap towed it back to Valley T and got tacos, then strap towed it to Ojos to put it on the trailer. Got back into Ensenada, bought some cold XX and stopped by the farmacia, got a hot shower and crashed. Came back through Tecate and waited maybe 45 minutes around noon. Tough luck but thats Baja. Little more tweaking and the 3.4 will rip at the 500.

Sounds like good times. What truck were you racing in?

    201. We ran Class 2 because the motor was brand new and fired up for the first time 2 days before we left the line. Its a 7S legal truck though, the General Toyota Pickup.
