2000 Ranger
absolutely awesome race. so much fun. dont have pics yet, but ill get some soon enough. trophylite did awesome, i drove the first lap with chris and took it nice and easy, didnt charge to hard down the course, had no flats. tyler got in with chris on the second lap and drove the last two at a steady pace. had no flats all day which was great, and no problems with the truck other then the fuel pumps overheating, so we had to keep switching back and forth in the soft stuff. placed 67th overall and 3rd in the TL class! a great way to start off the season.
and as stated above, prayers out to the appletons, and the bad apple team.
our 10 car started off well. they came in on lap 1 needing a new shifter cable which we luckily had a spare for at midway. they stopped on lap 2 so that they could adjust the linkage better, but by the time they got around to us at midway they had blown out the trans. came to find out later that the reason the trans dnf'd is because of 2 missing linkage springs on the shifter cable. oh well.
i also heard that travis bozzano in 7267 built by bms placed first in class unofficially, fuck yeah!
We finished 15th in class and 24th overall. Good weekend. Less than 5 minutes out of the top 20.

You forgot to add that you drove the 10 car back to the highway. Tow strapped sure, but you still had a race car to make race car noises this time.
We got to Midway around 7 AZ time and didnt see a 1583 chase truck or any 1091 markers. There also werent any spaces left so I just assumed it got stolen and we ended up after the right hand turn. Didnt have service out there either so I couldnt call you or text you. Congrats on the run, I like those older Jimcos, and thanks for marking a pit for us even though we didnt use it!
And props to Fox for getting some race miles on a quad carrying parts. Looked sketchy as fuck hahaha.
new racer single seat for McCallum?
Go Hard Or Go Home............ But Never Go Home Hard
The purpose of life is not to arrive at the grave with a well preserved body, but to slide in sideways, completely used up, screaming, what a fucking ride~!
Still had a spot for you but we were definitely hard to find, we ended up having 9 vehicles pitting with us in the spot I marked out Friday morning. I went back out at midnight Friday to hold the spot cause I didn't trust that someone would leave the marking alone. Luckily I did cause they tried all night to get in on the spot even with me parked in it. Everyone knew you were coming and they were ready to move vehicles to get you in but looks like you made it happen elsewhere, definitely a very tuff pit to work at.
Sucks about the 25th OA finish cause we got nailed hard on the second lap just past pit 2 which caved in the rear cage crushing the exhaust down to about half it's normal size. The car did 119 MPH on the outbound heading toward Midway and 120 on the second lap in the same section but was only able to reach 96 on the third lap. The car lost a lot of power after the hit, dont think it was intentional, no horn and lots of dust. Lost almost 5 quarts of oil because of the restriction but still finished in a great position, only 8 minutes out of the top 20 according to the official results. Lost more than that trying to fix the exhaust. The new rear cage will definitely have extra tubing. Oh well, next time. How did you guys end up doing?

And FYI to anyone working this pit in the future, cell service is great on the hill across from the pits. Not as bad climbing it as it looks. A couple 2 way radios with someone sitting on the hill will keep you in contact with Main pit all day.

Good to know, all the large antennas and hills drowned our radios out so we were lucky to get 5 miles out and gave up on the cell phones after trying to text main for an update for 3 hours haha. Had 3 great, clean pits tho.
We got out there at like 5:15AZ and grabbed literally the last open spot. We were pitting for Jake Tyler and the 6065 TL first and formost but rolled out with the Potts team and were helping out an 8 truck that ended up getting towed into us and calling it quits with tranny issues. We squeezed 2 full sized chase trucks into about half the space we had for the 5/1600 at the mint last yea, it was interesting to say the least but we made due.
I marked out 60 feet early Friday morning and we ended up with at least 10 chase vehicles in the spot including Smiley's big box van.
Couldn't believe the issues the guys with the HUGE antennas had with communicating with the field. I just had my PCI chase package radio that is permanently mounted to my truck and the tiny antennae it comes with and I was able to talk to Main AND the race car no matter where they were on the track.
I think the major problems people have with the radios is that when the race is over they disconnect all the cables and don't protect all the connection ends. They roll them up and put them away for the next race, those brass and aluminum connections when exposed to the air begin to oxidize making for a shitty connection when they are put back together. In the Army we used to pack those ends with an anti-oxidant then when we used them we cleaned all that stuff out then made the connections. Very surprised more people don't do this. It helps A LOT!

most people don't give a shit or know to do that kind of stuff. they figure it's a problem they can't fix and blame the company they bought it from or buy new components. i was out there with tmorf. check out post 46, our car didn't fare too well.
