if people cheat and spend more than 750 bucks they wouldnt want to sell it. by selling it at 750 bucks (or another price) or trading your truck at the end keeps someone from putting 2 grand in and saying "i only paid 750 for it"

plus u could just use the truck u buy or trade for, the truck for next time we do the event

agreed. just think something safety wise should be put in. cuz one person could build a cage like u said while another person uses the money to make the truck faster.

just thought it would be something to consider when coming up with the rules.

Maybe some sort of cage should be a rule, but dont include the price for the cage in the $750.

    Edit: beat me to it.
roost: you would just give other racers the option of buying your rig for 750. That way, it would deter people from spending 2K on their vehicle, breaking the rules.

562-guys, where are you? I'm extremely willing to pitch in and lend a hand..
Someone also mentioned 3-person teams. Does that mean we are doing 3 laps in the dezert, or a "re-lay" style race? I can already see people fighting over 1 driver spot..

    I also bought a chevy 1500 singlecab for $200.

That makes sense. Also gotta factor in the price of the vehicle+upgrades=more than $750.
    Or is it $750 total?

Making a race happen in the desert is next to impossible and will be very hard to control.

    Here is my idea.

Tuff Truck events only. There are tuff trucks in Victorville, Indio, Del Mar every year. None of those are that far away. Why dont we just find out the schedule and enter these trucks at those.

I think thats the only way anything legit will ever happen.

this is an awesome idea, I could definitely see us doing this......we always talk about missing the small bullshit races, they are just fun.

....what is the rule about using spare parts in the shop/garage? Will it take away from the $750?

we could make it happen, just need an honest gentelmens aggreement. Lap race, everyone stays on course, and keeps track of your own time.

True my fastest lap at TT was in 2wd. 4wd sucks up a lot of power if you have a smaller displacement engine.

I think that there would have to be at least 2 check points to keep everyone honest. there would also need to be a time keeper at the S/F.

i agree on having to sell or trade the truck after the race, will definately keep cheating to a minimum.

if you know how to build a basic cage yourself it's only about $125 max in steel

I think it would be fine if you wanted to use parts that are sitting in your garage. Just imagine someone buying your beater truck with those coilovers, 35's, and V8 you had "sitting" in your garage for $750 though..... If you do it right, you could build it for under 750, race it, and then have someone buy it after the race, making money on your end. That's the motivation to stay under the limit.

This event is going to be awsome.

I think that it should be a "Tuff Truck" event where we all join with our beaters.

We need some kinds of basic rules made up now so everyone can get started. Also a time frame of when this might happen. Remember that most ppl here need some time to save for a thing like this. So something in the next 6months or later would be bitchen.

    Awesome idea Richer.

I think my friends and I would be interested in this. We were already talking about it... but we were talking about chopping up an old cadillac or something. I was gonna call the WGAS guys to see if they would let us run something other than a "truck".

I'm wondering if they won't approve though. He might not want a bunch of beaters that are gonna break and slow down his show.

In any case, keep us updated as it sounds like a blast. Tuff truck event only though.... we need all the fans!

    Yeah I know..
But I'm not going to put money into a beater when my main truck isn't done..So once my ranger is DONE, then I'll go find a beater and cage it.
