Sweet, no more racing in California. Fun stuff...they have big business behind them and the Obama Green policies AND all the Cali jobs etc initiative. This sucks.

Lets set up a riot for this ha. If its a " Temporary" set up for studying thats one thing and i understand, but if they use that and call it a "green project" as an excuse then im sure they will make it permanent facility and it will start to spread like cancer and we will have a significant problem and thats where the offroad community will get fucked

So how many super dutys do you think it will take to pull down a couple windmills? haha okay so that probably wouldn't be the best way to go about this possible issue.. but man this could be a bummer.

No shit! I can see it now: explaining to my 10 year old son (who is now 2) how things used to be and how we used to go race, ride, and camp in the local desert.

Desert racing is going to turn into the moonshine days of NASCAR...if they shut everything down, I am taking all my stickers and make everything on the truck black...and I'm gonna run it anyways...I'm going to go out and have my fun and see if they can catch me...

That's been my plan all along, when you regulate something people will fall in line just because not doing so is not worth the risk(why make booze when you can just buy it), when you ban something it's just deregulation, there is no incentive to fall in line.

That's right...at this point I'm not telling people to go out and break the law in their prerunners...but at some point, I am going to be all for it!

this really blow i hav sent a email to each person listed on the RCD link stating that we are aleady lossing thousands of acres a year of our precious land and that we hav clean ups every year to try and keep our land clear and that if this land is taken where do the expect us to go? in no way was the letters rude or disrespectful it was a simple what can we do to keep our land rights.

and i even brought up the point of if they do put them up can we still ride/drive on the same land.

but its only gonna take one or a couple dipshit shooting the windmills or taggin on them to close the land for secondary useage is what the blm chick said

I'm sure they won't last in Barstow. They will get vandalized and torn apart within a year or two.

haha^^ good point. even if they did stay and they banned the area for us, i sure as shit would go anyways. It would be worth the risk. If enough people stepped up and fought this, theres a chance they could be fought off

wow...... soo has anyone thought of giving alts to the problem... or a solution to keeping our "public Lands " open... like installing fencing around the proposed sites... they sure as hell don't need to close off the entire area in order to take test samples of the wind in the area......

hell Im pretty sure that with enough off roaders hauling ass on any given sunday they will produce there own wind energy...

Seems unlikely because if they actually do install the windmills, first order of business will be to minimize dust from offroad vehicles to protect their expensive equipment.

ive been riding at stoddard for my hole life, i even learned how t ride there when i was 2! its gonna suck of they take all the local spots away

they dont see that they are actually making it really dangerous for all the riders and racers because they keep closing down areas and next thing you know everyone in southern cali is going out to one spot on the weekend and people are getting hit by trucks because all the idiots are out there and that goes for the riders to

Yes, they could install the windmills on many other parts of the government land that isnt OHV area. Taking the samples will only use minimal space, but if it goes well they will want to close down the whole area.

The problem is, is that they don't care. They are in the money making business, not the "lets worry about OHV business". They couldn't care less.

Gotta love the chest pounding, I guarantee you they throw a fence up and a 4500 fine and we'll all tuck tail and whine... First the Enviro's tried to lock us out, then Cranston and his Cronies Feinstein, boxer and Levine, now the President and his staff wants to save our lands, the marines in Lucerne and now private industry in Barstow and Ocotillo... Instead of the talk we need to get off our butts and write, call and respond, NOW!!!!!

We/I have also spoken with the BLM and they are moving forward with the permits to allow the testing and could care less RE the comment period or our concerns as a community. This is the exact tactic that they used in NV; a simple test and once it proves succesful (and it will), they file for a permit and then there's security concerns and bingo: It's too late for any action. Just as in the case of Johnson Valley/Lucerne where the US Marines had already decided they wanted the multiple use area as it's easier to work with than the area to the N.E., and the meetings were nothing more than PR and marketing, but they told us: "We won't take anything away from the OHV community, besides we're your government and we have your best interests in mind"... If we don't present the position of being a strong opponent and address and attack these incursions immediatley, we will lose these areas and apathy and a wait and see attitude, will spell disaster. The simple fact that they had not let anyone know that these permits were filed or about the public comment period until Rocky 9 (on RDC) got the info through a mole, should be enough to let us know they are serious. The Marine/Lucerne deal was another issue which was found out by accident... 2 for 2 from the barstow office and both affecting our local OHV areas? That's too much coincidence for me and the; "yeah, the'll never do anything without asking us or taking our feelings into consideration" attitude is just what they are hoping we'll take... Remember: They are private industry and they have options. They are going after open multiple use areas (OHV areas) for cheap gov't leasehold land that will have little resistance. This has already happened in NV, now Barstow and Ocotill are undergoing the same process. Toss in Primm and the other areas under fire and how you can choose to take a wait and see attitude is beyond me when off roading in the entire southwest is under fire. Oh and if you think that all these race orgs are involved guess again, only one has done a damned thing... At the Marine hearings one showed up and one from S.D. at least posted to show support for his brothers to the north. On this issue one is very involved, the other not so much...

so when their test equipment is up which i assume will be testing wind speed and duration ect.

Just make sure it is not seeing any wind. Bad results problem fixed.
