Thread: Havasu clean up. Need help getting this going.

I am looking to organize a clean up here in the desert around Lake Havasu City cause there is crap everywhere, from couches, computers, tv's, and anything else someone thought might be kind of fun to shoot. Now my first issue is what to do with all the garbage we pick up, cause I am pretty well guaranteed that we would fill up one of the big dumpsters, not sure what there called at the moment. Well that's pretty much my only issue right now.

Any help is appreciated.

I would shoot clean dez an email for some info. I would talk to the blm office on the south side for starters to try and get something going

go also to the city and explain ur plan of attack and im sure they'll help out too if you do get something going im game to help out , only 45min away!!

Go talk to Allied waste or Paradise wate, i forget their name, but it's the only trash company in Havasu. They are on the street that the courthouse is. If you take Lake havasu Ave. North, past Kiowa, you will pass advantage, then pass Magic, it's the next street. I believe they are across from Morphic. But go in there, and im sure they would be more than happy to provide a roll off bin for trash. maybe two.

Also maybe talk to Campbell ready mix or the rock quary out off red rock. They may be able to help. especially if your picking up the Rerd rock/ bison areas.

my mom works for the city in the parks maintenance division i can pull some strings and have dumpsters provided or get the city online with the project

What is a clear date on a weekend for everyone?

i responded to your email. But so everyone can see, you need to figure out what you think your needs are (dumpster/people) and get a good proposal together and start blowing up peoples phones. IN years past i have been able to get the city to donate, also 1 year had the waste disposal compnay donate, and most importantly if its on BLM land get them involved. The most frustrating part of putting on an event for me was organizing the disposal of waste and tires. Tires cant go into dumpsters and nobody likes giving away free stuff. So it may take 15-20 calls to the city to find the right person that will help with the project. But ulitimately most manicupalities have some sort of budget for this type of stuff. weather its just a pass to the dump or actually being able to provide a roll off.

P.s. also make sure you know exactly you are going to clean, and if its blm or city land... obvously city doesnt want anything to do with BLM land, but the BLM will do anything they can to get help making sure thier land is clean and safe.

Thank you for the quick response. Going to use the info you provided along with I am also in contact with a local who is always involved in the land use issues, and possibly getting the local clubs involved. I will keep everyone updated through this thread and a thread over on pirate4x4. Also when I get more stuff/information I will do a mass "spamming" of forums with a flyer and such.

Kenny, I tried to get something going a couple years ago and hit a wall w insurance. But I was able to get Vince iirc to get WM involved for the dumpsters, and blm was also on board ( was for the Hassayampa area, Havasu is AGUILLA blm)... there was another thread just started in AZ section about a clean up with another org that is involved with 4x4's , TRAL or something like that... count me in.

talk to BLM about insurance. I wasnt required to carry seperate insurance... However if i put on another event with 500+ people, i would probably look into it more as i dont want to loose everything because of someone being stupid.

Thank you guys again for the information. I will keep everyone posted as to whats going on with this. (this week I am slammed with working on jet skis for the world finals at work, some after hours crap along with it so nothing to happen this week.)

Don't have time to do it, got slammed this month with side work.

Well hop to it i want to go out and help some people! If theres ever a set date i know i can get it advertised on the Down and Dirty off-road show and maybe the local radio show in parker.

Will see if I can set a date sometime, still slammed with sidework. When it slows down I will see what I can do.
