Default Save Lucerne / Johnson Valley

    Copied this from RDC.

The California Motorized Recreation Council (an umbrella association made up of the 10 largest OHV groups in California) Is collecting data for an economic impact report based on 2011 use of the OHV area. The link below takes you to a quick survey that will help us create the EIR. 29 palms Marine base expansion efforts are expected to file the final EIS in the next couple months. The time is now if we hope to save the largest OHV open area in the US. The area is home to a number of races every year.

The link can be copied and pasted so please spread the word.

    Thank you.

I used realistic guestimates. Make it seem somewhat reasonable.

Bump, did mine. Said I would not pay though. Already pay taxes and green sticker fees to use our land.

If it actually comes down to it, the majority of us will all pay to continue to ride/play out there.
Even though it's ridiculous to pay to use public land. Land that is owned by all of us as a nation.

i feel like if most would agree to pay then it would only make them drive up whatever price they think should be paid, but saying you wont pay will be used as leverage not to allow access.

i put that i wouldnt pay to recreate... one of the big reasons i go where i go is having to pay. I wont pay to go to el mirage, have no burning desire to go to glamis but once or twice a year if that... when i can go to oco, barstow, lucerne, ect all for free... Where is our green sticker money going? and where would our fees go that we need to pay?

If paying a fee is the difference between staying open, or closing, then I'd gladly be willing to pay. That's how I looked at it. And in all honesty, what is 5, 10, 15, 25 dollars to go play for a weekend? Would I prefer not to pay? Absolutely. But with how shaky things are, might be what we have to do.

Way i look at is if i drve my truck out to the desert it costs me $40 in gas to go there and back. If im riding my bike that costs next to nothing in gas so lets say an entire trip costs me $70. add another $20 on top of that, might not sound like much but thats almost another 30% more cost. just like Adam this is the reason i choose to stay away from glamis, el mirage, pismo etc in favor of the free land.

i agree with kyle I would rather pay then not go. but if someone is asking me if i want to pay for public land then hell no i dont. El mirage for example is now charging to use that land... however they also receive alot of grant money to build thier new facilities, new vehicles, and to keep the land in good shape... so where does the money that we pay go towards? I almost think part of the reason to pay is to keep the riff raff out. not because they need to generate the $.... So the rest of us get screwed when we may not be the problem? i dont know all the ins and outs... but i still dont like the idea of having to pay to recreate... because at somepoint he fees will get out of control.

This is kinda the same reason i quit snowboarding... Spend tons of money on gear, spend money on gas and food to get there, then sped a ton more money to stand in line on the slopes. For me the money spent for a day of fun was just no longer worth the fun i was having.... Specially when it seemed each year the prices would go up.

Its not like we are really going to have a choice anyways. YOU WILL PAY to play sooner or later I guarantee it so why fight it? They know dam well shitloads of people pay for Glamis so its good motivation to due the same in Johnson Valley. We just cant have our cake and eat it too these days. Special thanks to all the dipshits that are fucking/Fucked it up for everyone!

i rather say no, i wont pay then roll over and pay a fee for something that has always been free.. why agree to something because you dont think you have a chance.

A weekend pass for Glamis for example, is still cheaper then going out to the movies, an amusement park, football game, etc.

this may have already been posted, and for the record i'm not a big fan of what DR has become....subforums under subforums and the placement of some things leads to never being viewed. Not sure many on here would do anything to the effect of those on pirate anyways, but if you care, take a look...
