Large area that would that would also include Stodard Wells area. MDR and MORE race in these areas as well as District 37 for motorcyles. Agreed they have the power but if we push back we may have a chance. 29 Palms base already consists of over 935 square miles of base. They could also go East into Arizona. If we just roll over it will never end and we will have no off road areas to enjoy. What's next saving a endangered gnat!

Nope, that's not how it works at all. If the Military wants to expand or open a new base they have 2 options, buy the land from a private citizen/company or petition for use of federaly or state owned land. The caveat to that is 2 fold, they must replace the land if it happens to be open to public recreation, so if they close JV they must open up a new area to offroaders, the problem is that there is no guidlines for the land they must open so more than likely they would just relable a piece of flat boring desert an OHV and call it good. Secondly they must get approval from State and Federal government, that is the point of Pirate's online protest. If polititions will lose votes because of this land closer, it won't happen. The military can't just take it, there is a process and regulations, doesn't matter how many tanks and soldiers they have they can't get around the red tape. But you're right, probably better not to spend 3 minutes to post up something on Pirate, anything that mite not turn out in your favor isn't worth trying anyhow

The Pirate Protest thread is closed because the posting window is over, there is another thread going, they sent out something like 1800 press releases just in SoCal so I'm sure the media and government is watching, post your thoughts about JV, good times you've had there and what it would meen to you if it were closed.
