They were doing a ghetto cannonball run to Vegas in cars that couldn't cost more than $800. I think they were leaving them behind if they broke down. We did see a few of them on the 15 near Barstow

I know navigating that first section from our start to the power lines the other side of Yermo was probably the slowest, but with that many trucks, it seemed like it was going to be hard for the group to make very good time.

We stuffed it diving into a sand wash and broke a lower control arm tab off the strut frame. Thought it was best to call it a day right then – No reason to hold up the entire group with a bigger problem trying to go further down the road.

We limped all the way back to Upland, pulling over every 15-20 miles to check the ratchet straps. Worked out fine, thanks for the straps guys!

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone we met. My wife was very impressed with how friendly and helpful everyone was. Regardless of breaking and heading back early, she had fun and that’s important - as long as she enjoys it, I easily get to keep spending time and money on this truck.
Not everyone made it, they were coming in HOT....
Im still impressed with how much fun they were having after this shit went down

Yea bro she came over and chewed us out! She waved us passed and pulled over, it's not like I floored it, we were hardly doing 5 mph faster than her. She pulled over on the down wind side. But whatever, I was having too much fun to feel hassled.

We got pictures of every truck and weird vehicle that went by the top of the powerline road, my mom was snapping pictures the whole time. Let me know if you want one of a particular vehicle.

The car RAN great, where we had stopped was because oil pressure had dropped. We lost the engine by the end of the day. We bought it used so not sure if it was on it's last leg or what, other than that, that X18 hauls the MAIL. I invite anyone who thinks otherwise to take a ride in it. We'll be going out again soon. I have a '90 Chevy Prerunner with over 25k invested and the X18 could do circles around it.
And yea that area out there is fun, we love going to Afton and Crucero sometimes. Couple years ago we rode motorcycles from Phelan to Laughlin, 250 miles roughly, and took that stretch of powerline, lots of fun. But way better in a car!

We never made it to the tree bar, when we were walking in to the hotel to get a drink I got the voice mail from Mikey saying that they went over, still on there lid and needed help getting the truck out, and they were hurt. They had horrible reception out there and had no idea where they were, about an hour later Mikey was finally able to tell me they never made it back to the Baker lake bed, 70 miles later(Eddie and his Dad in Yellow Ranger, Brandon and his Brother in White Raptor and Bobby and I in the Titan) finally found them and the party hadn't stopped, they were in a much better mood than I would have been in. Oh and we had no idea the 4x4 Tacoma was in a ditch either until that point with the driverside front end destroyed. Took 2 trucks to get him to flat ground because of the hubs digging into the ground

    Good times right here

im down to see what that car is all about, it was ironic cuz my dad and i were talking about how his funco needed shock work and he mentioned thinking about buying one of those x-18 cars but hes still not convinced, he still wants a v8 car

I'll shoot you a PM next time we're headed out, probably this weekend. You're welcome to come out. We're dropping a new ecotec in this week, so it should be good to go.

Looks like there was a little carnage at the back. We would have stayed but I was 3 hours late to meet some one in Vegas, and never heard about the problems. We ran the trail back from jean this morning. Made three stops and swapped a tire out after fronty bent a rim, less then 3 hours.

cracked windshield, and sucked my air cleaner flat was all the damage I had. Time for a UMP

Here's the few that we got. They're much better quality these are just sized down. Let me know if you want bigger pics.

Next time you guys do this I can set up ahead of you and be a dedicated photog, I know the perfect place out on that road...

So... You guys don't know what happened with that 'Burban? The gas was still leaking out when we got there. PM me if you know.

Hahah oh man! I didn't even see that suburban! Judging by the hello kitty hood, I'm gonna say he was w/ the group of weirdos in the gorilla car, etc. looks like they were coming in hot too, lol. There was another wrecked pink suburban further back that looked like some sort of gay pride mobile w/ a sweet rainbow flag but had a busted front axle and looked like it had been sitting out there for a while already.

and good meeting you out there! The predator looks bitchin! Thanks for the pic of the yellow ranger!

We were wondering WTF so many cars were doing out on our stomping grounds! We thought you guys were military out testing, those are the only guys we ever see out there. That and the... BLM...

I ran this out to the Midnight Special race at Primm. We hit a tiny bit of rain but the scenery was epic. Its all really fast but if youre in a stockish truck theres bound to be a few washouts. I think I got my F1 to about 80 a couple of times. When it was raining on Sunday on the way home the freeway was totally fucked, so we went north on the lakebed, under the freeway about 6 miles down, then along the freeway south behind Whiskey Petes. It took us three hours to get from Primm to Barstow when it was taking people that long just to get on the freeway. Good times.

Really fun time! Did it in the day time with the big group, then 3 trucks did half the run at night after the rescue mission, and again on our way home. Perfect freeway traffic shortcut in a truck/suv. Last vegas trip I was bummed sitting in hours of traffic in my buddy's lowered car knowing the power line road was right there... There's some LONG straights where 80 is doable, but after some weather there's also washouts waiting to ruin your day.

The first thing that throws up a red flag is that you cross the highway from Baker to Pahrump and all it takes is one BLM Ranger. That and the fact its not an OHV area would throw up another red flag. Personally I wouldnt risk it just becuase you would probably get the book thrown at you if you get nailed. Or just zip tie plates from another truck on there and go for it...
