Personally, I think the late 60's to early 70's F100 is best. Easy to get a v8 in 81 inches wide with 35x12.50 tires. They come stock with a 31 spline 9 inch. They weigh just a little bit more than a ranger and have equal length beams from the get go.You bend the beams, add deavers and a nice 2.5 shock on each corner and most rangers and tacomas would have a hard time keeping up.

Toyota would be my vote. Pre tacoma though. Either that or an i-beam ranger.

I am so sick of some young kid trying to come on here for help and then you guys post false information/wise cracks. Everyone knows that the Dodge D-50 pickup is one of the best platforms to build, many races one right there! Good luck with the build, I hope my positive advice helped.

Well do you want A-arms or beams?
Pre tacoma toyota = arms, reliable, cheap.
Beamed Ranger = Beams, reliable, cheap.
It just comes down to preference.

whatever i do i would like to utilize 4x4....if i still lived in chino i would run 2wd but i moved to southern idaho and it would be nice to keep 4wd.. i was looking at tc's kit that uses 4wd and eliminates the torsion bars......im not sure what glass works best and also not sure on a rear suspension set up.

is there a way to run a toyota on beams with 4wd??

You could but it would be alot of work. If you want to go 4wd stick with the original style of suspension the truck came with.

if you want a fun 4x4, the best option in my opinion would be an 86-95 4x yota with total chaos gen 2 kit and 62" deavers in the back.

i'll be the ass and vote for an older 4x4 beam ranger. WAY more wheel travel/articulation with the beams than you can get with a-arms.
