    couple of questions:

what gears to run 35x12.50 tires? thinking 4.56 with a tacoma motor.
what locker should I run - its a full time locker option

Also, how does a spool work, does it replace the locker? What if I skipped the locker and just welded up the gears, would that be a problem while beating on the truck/racing?

dont weld your gears. i have alot of experience in the t-100 axle field.

    heres the setup you want.

get an eaton locker off of ebay, will cost 200-250$. its a TRD sold under the parent name Eaton

get either 4:56 or 4:88. if your gonna run a baja T/A, id go with the 4:88s, for all terrains, go with the 4:56, anything in between is up to you.

remove your splash gaurds from the axle housing. they sound like a great idea...but theyve caused our diff to fail when the sheet metal pieces came apart and got caught up in the gears. not worth it.

when you get the Eaton LSD, make sure you put LSD additive in your oil. for oil run a striaght 130 or 140 weigth geal oil. progear sells some good stuff, Lucas works very well also.

break it in properly, dont just go beat it. drive it for awhile, let it sit, drive it for awhile, let it sit. do that for a full tank of gas, and its good to go

if you have any questions about this diff, as me, bonzen, or fish. weve build and maintained several of these and know them inside and out.

i just got my 4-door geared at 4:88 with a TRD (eaton) LSD and it's d ream come true. Def put in the additive. You can get it at a chevy dealership (at least that's where i got mine). i was just told to drive it like a grandma for the first 100 miles with no long trips during that period. The guy that did my rear end said that, overall, his customers have far preferred the TRD limited slip to a locker and that he's even had customers bring back their rearends that he had set up with lockers to replace with TRD LSD's.

ok, a little off topic, but it seems like the answer can be found within the people who have posted here. my currie 9" is currently sitting at ESB, and when i get that thing in my truck, being how its a brand new, complete rear end. whats the break in period on something like that? i dont want to blow that thing up after spending 2500 bucks!! thanks.

10-15 mph figure 8's on asphalt for 30 minutes is the proper way to break in clutchpacked LSDs. At the end of each straight away (in the figure 8) accel to 15mph thru u-turn, then clutch-in after the u-turn, then repeat non-stop. Just find an empty industrial parking lot.

Yep no spool options for the T-100 rear
    To quote Erik B

"At this time, the only LSD available is the TRD/Kazuma clutch-type 3-pinion LSD, the OEM 4-pinion Tundra TRD LSD, and the only lockers available are the Powertrax "Lock-right," "No-Slip," and the ARB Air Locker (RD-89)."

    http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/

For most people's application that frequent this board, a LSD will probably be a better option than a locker. As explained by Mike, a LSD will not put as much shock on the axle when you suddenly find traction at a high rate of speed.

so you are saying run a LSD instead of the locker? any reasons why....besides the shock effect...

and if that is the case, what about a tacoma axle with 4.56 gears and the factory locker? useless in racing?

isnt the t-100 rear a yota 8 inch? if so yes they make a spool. as for how it works it replaces the spider gears. as for do you want it probly not unless you plan on up grading your axles. as for the gears what motor and trans whould be a big help. but sence your running the 35s im guessing you have the 3.4 and a auto so 4.88s sence your asking about a spool and that whould mean you want it for off road only.

do some more research, and you will find that the t100 is an 8 inch but different than the 8 inch in the older pick ups.

You linked to a t-100 that has a ford 9" rearend so that example is thrown out. The link to richmonds page shows spools for a 2wd or supra or celica which has a 7.5 ring gear (the toyota 8blt) and the 4wd which is the 8inch ring gear (10blt). Neither of those ring gears are in a t-100 or tundra. the t-100 rearend is closer to a tacoma rearend than a truck. the ring gear is close buts its about 8.25 instead of 8. a tundra axle is wider than a t-100 axle and the ring gear for that is even bigger as far as i know i think its closer to 8.5.
    Its all good
