If the stock ones are in good condition they will work.
alright, has anyone ever used these with extended A-arms?
I know, just wondering if anyone has ever used em, wonder what it would look like?
I think as far as ballin on a budget these spacers will be fine later on some wheels and tires. Bumpers down the line and little things here and there will be a good start. That's how I did mine now I just save up for the bigger items.
thanx dirtracer90, just ordered them yesterday, and yeah he's ballin on an extreme budget but I want to help em get started off right or at least a decent start, not the way I started off having to go to junk yards and scrap yards for shit, 84prerunner thanx for the advice i'll put it to use when he decides to order a kit or if I fab some arms for him. This thread sure helped me a shit load, I have another question though and don't wanna start a new thread, what shackles are these

dam picture wouldn't show, oh well here's the thread where I saw the shackles, i've seen these on a couple of trucks and can't find em anywhere.
Thread: Marked motorsports 88 toyota race truck or prerunner
if you swap the springs under, throw on a little lift shackle to get some ride height back. everyone starts somewhere, so leave the kid alone. i remember when i wanted to slam my truck at first, then SAS it, and now build it into what it now is. hitmeup is trying to do a good deed and be a nice guy by helping the kid out. quit bagging on him. anyways, if you do a spring under with the stock leafs, it will drop way low. to fix it a little, you can do an add a leaf or a little longer shackles. do not just weld the new perches whilly nilley on the bottom of the axle. you have to make sure the angle of them is correct so the driveline and pinion and all the other crap are the way they should be. those shackles you posted the link to ^^^ look to be regular 12" total chaos shackles. they also make 9". i have some like7.5" shackles in my garage somewhere that im not using and would sell to you cheap, you pay shipping. pm me if youre interested and we can work something out. they arent anything amazing or pretty, but they are longer than stock. they were on travisfab's old white pickup, and that thing had many proven dirt miles.
Those are TC style shackles like ^ he said. Most people make there own, thats what i did and am currently running on my truck. They pivot from the top of the frame and have to be that long to work correctly with a 62" leaf pack. doing a spring under swap then adding longer shackles is honestly REALLY dumb. not only is that a lot of work but it will make the truck work way worse as a truck and offroad and it will make the springs bind.
yes it is a lot of work. i know that it is dumb, but ive got some 7" shackles i wanna get rid of lol. and i really doubt the kid is gonna be offroading it.
If he wants the look more or less than just crank the torsions. Or he can save a little cash and buy a blazeland kit or a used chaos kit and be set. If he doesn't use the truck in dirt at all or as long as he isn't trying to be robby gordon the blazeland kit will hold up fine. I bought one a long time ago for 400 bucks. Deals are out there for someting better off than what your trying to do, he just has to be patient.
thanx bodj, kids been struggling with this truck for a while thats why I jumped in to help as soon as he asked me for it, looked like he was giving up on it till he saw my tools and the advice you can get from this website, i've ordered the ball joint spacers for him and i've came up with a pretty good idea of how to do the rear end for him, i'm gonna run it by him with a blue print when he comes by later, i'm going to ditch the spring under set up cuz from all the advice i've gotten it's really more trouble than its worth, i'm going to put shackles with some spare fox shocks I have, just need an idea of how to do his leafs, should I add a leaf or should I order some new ones for him and have him blocksand my bedsides to earn them.Thanx 84prerunner, 86 yota runnr, dirtracer90, doyouquaxu and bodj for all the advice so far.
Glad to hear man. This kind of stuff is really fun to help others out with there cars to get them started! The simple ones are always cool
no worries. if you end up getting the 7" shackles from me, your best bet would be to run it through the frame, instead of on top or bottom.
thanx dirtracer90, hopefully I can get those shackles from bodj and probably order a set of deavers for him, that with the fox shocks should give him pretty good travel in the rear and the ball joint spacers should give him the lift he's looking for, dam if it wasn't for this thread we would've destroyed that truck, luckuly it's a yota!lotekranger would be right but just wouldn't be right to send him that way, he'd be leveling out all the potholes in town lol.
anyone know if greesable ball joints are available for the 88 yota, I can only find sealed ball joints.
do these hold up pretty good when it comes to wear on the joint, or do they need constant service?
ok, I'm going to order a pair so I can replace the stock ones when I put the spacers on.
if I remember right I had a set of leafs that were a little longer than those stock leafs on my truck. They were from a older toyota mini diesel and I was getting around 14-15 inches of travel out of the rear. All I had to do was move the shackle 2-3 inches back and put it on top of the frame. Look into that for a cheap rear setup for him You could probably get the springs on a half off day from a junk yard for maybe 60-75 bucks for a set. come to think of it their is a half off day this weekend at the ecology junkyard in riverside. might be able to find a set there for cheap?
I was thinking of buying him some bigger leaf springs but I don't know which ones I should get, should I just buy some chevy leafs and just move the shackles or what, don't really know what leafs he should use?
like I said find some toyota mini diesel leafs they mount in the stock front hanger and you just have to make a new mounting point for the shackle. he should get around 15 inches of travel if setup right. you can go for the chevy leafs too but those take more work to setup and more fiddling with to get a decent ride. The toyota leafs will give him a better ride without as much work. plus he doesn't really need 18+ inches of travel until he gets a little more done to the truck. the mini diesel leafs will work great.
so the front of the leafs should mount to the stock shackle location, thants way better than having to set up all four new mounting points, those leafs will work with his stock shocks right?, it's because I have some fox 2.0's that i'm gonna give him and I'm wondering if i'll need to change the mount for the shocks also or can I just use the stock location for em?
if you want something bolt on look into the deaver mini pack. it reuses the stock springs but removes the bottom overload leaf and adds i think 3 more leafs. gives like 2-3" of lift and makes it more progressive (better for offroad).
so whats up? do you think youre gonna get my shackles?
yeah i'm just trying to figure out how to pay you the money?, I don't have a paypal account, not really good with computors.
paypal is way easy to make. you just have to follow the instructions. it's nice because if you ever need to order something online, the ordering process goes really fast. you dont have to constantly reenter your card info
I never even knew you could pay online with a credit card, my sis is going to come over later to show me how to use paypal and help me set up an account, I was wondering if you have both sets of shackles or just one pair?
yeah, how else would you order anything online? anyways i have 2 shackles, so enough to do the rear end on one truck. just the two that i sent you pictures of.
my sis would order everything for me I just didn't know how she did it, all she would tell me is to give her the cash and she would order it for me, as long as I gave her the website and part number or part name the parts would always come in with a receipt so I would just say thanx lol, I can run these on the back of the leafs and leave the front alone right?
you should be able to? the spacers might need to be cut down a little if they are too wide. again, i never ran these on my truck.
