Default 10 inch dual rate springs on 1st gen tacoma

so i got a camburg kit up front and they need the short body 8 inch kings, well i ended up not getting the short bodies so i decided i was going to cut out my coil buckets since they are bent to shit anyways and make a shock hoop/engine cage. then i was like why the hell would i do all that for a 8 inch coil over when i could bump up to a 10 with a dual rate spring?

my truck on a single rate springs needs a 600, on a dual rate what do i need? 550/600? my trucks 4wd, 4 cylinder, and caged so you kinda know the weight....

me and shocks are like babies and talking. thanks for everyones help!

    Start with a 500/600

    would you suggest a 10inch c/o or a 12?

or do they pretty much do the same thing since you can still have dual rates, ones just longer?

here's what i went through with mine. i wanted a 10" shock so i could do dual rates, i also did 10" bypasses. If you're never going to run bypasses then its not a problem. running a 10" bypass on your truck is going to be a nightmare. i have some info on why in my build thread. I setup my engine cage so at bump the shocks are fully compressed because if i ever switch kits i can only bump so low and ill most likely get more travel from droop. anyway, the camburg kit is setup for an 8" shock so i ended up puting a spacer in the shock to limit the travel to 8" otherwise you wouldnt be able to install or remove the shock without completely unloading the springs. now i only have a shock thats 2" longer (total length) then the original 4" so the dual rate didn't really work. youre most likely going to have to run a main and a tender.I originally had 550/600 and it was way too soft. Now i have 6"x500 over 16"x700. it's a little soft. i wish i did 4"x500 over 18"x700 but it's not too bad. The main reason i chose 10" shocks because i plan on running a wider kit later on which will require a longer shock. If I planned right I shouldnt have to buy new shocks or change my engine cage.
Sorry for the novel. hope that helps

which part in your build? its long as hell haha.

i have looked at your build tons of times by the way!

i do plan on getting bypasses later on down the road. that will be one of the last steps of my build. do you suggest going to 12s then?

I know your truck is an double cab so would a 650 be better for an ext cab?

i know i dont have a tacoma but my 2wd toyota pickup is running a 10 inck king with 500 over 600. valving is a .012 on comp with a .008 flutter in there and a strait 10 on rebound and it does pretty damn good. feels gread on the street and even better in the dirt. Just thought it might give you a good reference. 700 seems like a lot of spring for your truck. what valving is in there?

what kit do you have? 3.5 over?
I have a 4wd 4door tacoma so im quite a bite heavier than you. Fox does their valving different but i have #115/#70 in the bypass and #70/#50 in the coilover.

well the 8s i have now arent the short body 8s from the camburg kit so i need to make shock hoops, my coil bucket on my truck is bent and cracked to shit so i ened to make a shock hoop anyways. so you would go with a 8 inch shock instead of a 10? but doing the same work would get me dual rate springs?

i have heard anywhere from 4 inch and 10 inches for the top spring. so idk on that yet....

It's not going to be the same amount of work. Fitting a 10" bypass is going to suck and be a lot of work
