Thread: Titan D44

Can anyone confirm if the Dana 44 in the new Titans is the same as every other D44. I was able to get a FREE one, complete with disk brakes. The bummer is that it has 3.23 gears, I would like to put in something around 4.56. I have been reading through the Titan forums and I cannot find a answer. This will be used in my 2wd yota project. Thanks in advance.

No bueno . The titan uses a nissan specific 44. Your stuck with that gearing (and that is the "off-road" gearing). Keep an eye on the axle bearings too. Where'd you get it? not many of them floating around. Also, thereis no lsd or locker for them either. Pm me any questions you may have about titan stuff.

I am one of the editors at Four Wheeler, and I can tell you from experience that is a weak axle. We have broken two of them, on two different trucks. A lot of it has to do with the heavy tow rating and high torque output of the Nissan engine, but like I said, we killed two of them.
