Thread: "prerunner" bumper, big ole' stupid truck

so after i get my tube bender built, im going to fab up front and rear bumpers for my truck. its not a prerunner (well this one isnt, that one will be next), but i want a big gnarly ass tube bumper on the front and back... so here are my plans. i took the design off a ranger pic i found on here... so feel free to give me some constructive critiscism, build tips, design tips, how you think it looks (unless your profile name is volume351)... just no straight shit talking please. oh yeah the yellow are lights, and the tealish blue will be a skid plate, and black is the frame. sorry its just a shitty ass paint picture, but you get the idea.

i think in looks good, make sure to use 2" tubing anything else will look to damn small.. id make it bolt on as well.

In order to appease Matt, I'll actually give some constructive critism.
I would make the bumper so that the bottom horizontal tube is right below the grill. This would look better IMO.
If you want to see what I'm talking about, just look at all prerunners with bumpers.

ya i see what you mean, and thats how it was on the ranger i copied it off of... thats how it will end up hopefully, i just wanted to know if it was an alright rough design, thanks RangerRick89... oh and thanks for hijacking this thread everyone.

by the looks of the illustration it looks like you will be using a plate of glass as a skid plate. i wouldnt do this, imagine if the price of windex goes up. anyhow, i agree with the 2" tubing idea. i know of a certain older fullsize with large dia tubing. looks good, would look weird w/o it. also, ive submitted my revisions in GREEN. sorry i botched your paint work. lower hoop= more lights or larger dia. lights. and it doesnt look like a rock crawling machine, unless your into that kinda thing, which is cool too.also, like mentioned before, make the main horz. tube level with the grille. i wouldnt do the green revisions without the approval of mr helton, could get ugly.

i do like the design you put, even tho my picture is ruined... anyway, the tubing... eh, maybe. we'll see. i dont really like the look of larger diameter tube bumpers. never liked em on jeeps, or plain old 4 wheelin trucks, like mine. we'll see. plus it will be powdercoated hopefully, and the light size is not written in stone yet either. im not gonna make it a bolt on tho, ill just use my extrem welding skillzz to attach it to my truck.
