How am I shitting on Tommy's thread? I'm pointing out that I've definitely tried myself & seen welded axles fail. He hasn't done it yet, so I'm providing warning.

How bout you take your troll ass off the computer and don't come back until you have something useful to say. Might be a while, I get it.
We can agree it is not 100% going to fail at least.

(See useful post #186 in this thread)

I really think you're going to have a hard time finding someone to make that long of a 1350 shaft, other than RCV, and they wanted like $2800 for a custom set when I asked.

A sleeved axle might be your only option. I'd definitely make a spare though. They never break in a convenient place.

I would fish mouth the ends of the sleeves to increase weld surface area and to more evenly distribute axle torsion.

They're absolutely, 100%, no question going to fail. Welded axle shafts don't survive. Good plan though just to mock up if you're ordering custom shafts but just use cheap materials to get the dimensions you need & test for cycling.
My friend has some extended axles in his bronco with some welded tubes and broke lots of stuff but the axles are still going strong.

Photos of old swingers but the new ones are basically the single swinger for both sides now. Wide bushing with a web gusset to strengthen it and keep from deflecting is why the bushing is wide.
