I.D designs makes an adapter that bolts a th400 to a 4.0. 4l80 is the same pattern.

No shit? My brother has been reading up on the SOHC swap for G3.
I said trans is biggest issue. Well shit, if you can put a 4l80e behind it... it should be indestructible.

I would put it close.
I would much rather put a th350 behind it personally.
The converter is going to suck power and then the mass of the assemblies inside will eat the rest.
220 ft lbs ain’t bad from the sohc. I’ll bet it’s still an improvement.

like i was asking... maybe better to just put a overdrive unit on the c4 since you already have that.
if your planning on a v8, then swap the trans..

an overdrive unit on back of the c4 would work but I know those aren't cheap by any means. and I agree a 700r4 would work I ran one behind my 4.3L v6 and raced it a few times and never thought twice about the trans going out.

Also no idea how much the adapters are to do that but even 4l80's aren't that much used. I've sold a few for $500 or so. Don't have any now or i'd hook you up with one
