those u 182 springs dont really allow for a notch. on my old truck they were a little negative when the axle met the frame without a notch

How did you determine the rear shock location without the springs, hangers, and shackles? The last Silverado I built with U182 and Mazzulla parts ended up with the upper shock mounts well above the bed, granted the lower shock mounts were on top of the springs.
The bedcage isn't final it's off only by 1-2 inches either to be pushed forward or backward. Everything was measured and the shock mounts are coming off the axle at a 45 degree so facing downward right now to allow the bedcage to sit below the bedline to keep it clean. It's going to get strapped and bumps all put in place also.

Last truck I had with U182 and a 16 stroke shock with the lower mounts on top of the leafs put me 4" over the bedline.
