I would move away from speedway if you don't want a repeat incident then. That's my honest opinion.

It broke exactly where expected for cut splines without a neckdown.

Im not an axle guy... If it does "Neck down" wont it just snap easier because of the smaller axle?

No, it’ll be able to twist like a torsion bar instead of just snapping. Those axles are not made correctly like mikey90210 said.

i have only broken 1 axle in 25 years. i think it is in the designed. I made a "weak link" by using aluminum drive plates. this save the 3rd member and axles. it is way easier, cleaner, faster, cheaper to change a drive plate then a axle. think of it like a fuse/breaker in electrical.

I make it part of my prep on the rear end so the get inspected a couple times a year. If worn, it gets replaced.

Probably one drive plate every other year depending on how many dirt miles. I have had only on give out on a trail.
At $50/60 a plate and not having to carry 2 different size axels. Its a triple win.
