Seems like your over sprung if you took that much valving out and still can’t hit bumps. Thought that little section shouldn’t really be bottoming out either

Yeh, seems like thats the most likely issue now. Agreed it shouldnt bottom from that small stuff, but im trying to overshoot compression so I can start closing the tubes. Also it still feels harsh on those whoops, but much better than before..I will eventually be adding a jack above a spare tire, and down the road a larger fuel tank right behind the cab. For now Im going to try only a 1.7” x 0.008” shim on comp. then a regular pyramid 0.010” stack for rebound.

Clack clack, the harshness you feel is probably smacking the bumps. Need to slow it down before it gets there. And set your bumps up better.
Thats what it sounds like, but it actually never hit the bumps in that whoop section. Idk about youtube, but on my phone I can slow it down and zoom in.

Getting ready to go to Pismo for the weekend. Second fail on the truck after the rear upper shock mounts. Bent “drag link” mount on Driver side swinger. This is after bending it back and plating it. Before it only had a gusset like seen on the opposite side.

Great trip to Pismo after new years. Front valving is still great, Rear valving is getting closer, i will have to stiffen compression and rebound a little. Bent the main leafs slightly from my limit straps stretching and allowing to much droop im guessing. Then pulled the shocks off to go to a 400/500 spring rate on the front coilovers and start trimming the glass.

Well Ive been doing to much shit talking on others threads and forgot about my own crappy fab truck.. bent my main leafs, heres why.. so im moving the rear hanger mounts back even further now, and up an inch to lose some ride height. Hopefully I get to weld in the rain that sounds spectacular.

Also changing out the diff fluid with this stuff. I did it once at about 500 miles after the new gears. Now its probably been around 1000 miles after the regear.

Also fixed a rear main seal leak and timing cover leak in the last couple months.
Getting ready for a Pismo trip in a couple weekends.

well you guys were right, the problem with my shocks being to stiff ended up being the lip seal or maybe wear band being to tight to where 200PSI wouldnt fully extend the shaft ... broke my one stack of 1.6" x0.008" shim,yes singular comp shim per shock.. well fuck that didnt work

So I went to a full 0.008" pyramid stack on comp, and 0.015" pyramid on rebound.
Went to pismo for the day on 3/21/2020 since camping was not allowed because of the chinese virus.

Met a couple other ranger people, then my brothers explorer.
Then on the way home my daily started bogging down and sounded like a flat tire, pulled off to the side of the road, and couldnt start it up.

then found this under the truck still hot.. no.. not some casino chips.. maybe i can turn that $2 into enough for a new engine..

also I am loving this welder, got it open box like 75% off at Harbor freight. i think it came out to around $350

8 comp, 15 reb? That's sounds really backwards.
8's on comp were still to soft with both comp tubes in the bypass completely closed. I went up to a .010 normal pyramid stack on comp after this last trip.
15s on rebound seemed ok, with the tube halfway open, I will need to test again with the new comp valving to see what needs to happen next.
