Starting a thread here to post up the miscellaneous projects and trucks that i have coming in and out of my shop over the last few years.

Her's some links to build threads starting with my first truck the 85yota.

http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/threads/38330-My-Rebuild

Sold that truck to a guy in Colorado. About 3 months ago got a phone call from a friend of his who bought the truck it is still going but has had new cab cage rebuilt after being rolled along with a new LS3 and Th400 going in it.

Next builds was my 89 Toyota race truck

Raced that for a few years. Sold in October 2012 to a guy Canada who still is racing it in short course mostly.

After my toyota was done backhalved and did somef ront end work on Jeff Redstar's ranger.

I later rebuilt the front end to run thread beams/steering and new engine cage to run coilover and 3.0 bypass.

After his was done I linked and backhalfed my old roommates truck. Which i later bought and cleaned up/sold.

Once his truck was back on road I started on the full build for Leo.

This was the last truck i built in my parents driveway. Parents and neighbors had enough of the late night grinding and such so I got my own shop space after that.

Dirt King titan 4x4 kit i installed and build hoops for as well as extended the stock axles.

Coilover conversion i did for a 2005 GMC 1500 2wd with RCD 7" lift. Truck rode 100x better after this conversion.

Simple bolt on light bar for F350

Curious, out of all the projects you posted, likely the least attention getting but... Anything you wish you'd done differently on that E350 roof rack? It's on my future to do list for mine as well so just curious about learning from what you've done and may wish you'd done differently. I'm tempted to do a ladder off the side as well so you can easily climb up... Something like this...

A ladder and rack on rear bumper were on my to do list along with 4x4 conversion. But sold race truck and had no need for the van really after that so sold it. Rack was very solid. Had like 5 mounts to rain gutter per side. I would haul 10 sticks of tubing on it without issues.

When i first built rack it was super loud so I built the air dam on the front and it completely made it silent again. After all the work to build it and everything. I actually rarely used it as i had enough room inside to haul stuff. Only thing i'd throw up top was ez up and a folding table if i needed.

I don't want to detract from your thread too much but yeah, I'm right there with you on the no real need for it, mine is the version that actually has the even longer overhang on the rear so I've got even more space then you had. I want the rack more for sitting on to spectate from at the races in chairs with a cooler and umbrella. I also want to mount a couple solar panels under it to setup for charging some coach batteries for night time tv/dvd combo viewing. Poor man's white trash motorhome basically when not hauling race gear. LOL Thanks for the feedback though!!!! And yes, 4wd is on the someday list as well! I actually really love my van! Oh and I hadn't even thought about the fact I could then haul sticks up there with a rack! Even more reason to build one!
